The program targets academically qualified undergraduate and postgraduate candidates who come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds but demonstrate leadership potential. SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS:

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be citizens of an African country, willing to study in faculties such as Engineering and the Built Environment, Commerce, Health Sciences, Humanities, Law, or Sciences at UCT. They should come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, demonstrate financial need, and exhibit leadership potential. However, applicants intending to pursue a second postgraduate degree at the same level or those who have previously enrolled in a Masters program at any other institution are ineligible to apply.
SCHOLARSHIP DURATION AND REWARD
Recipients of the scholarship will not only receive financial support but also benefit from mentoring, leadership development, and academic and life skills support. Academic assistance will be provided through tutoring, language training, writing circles, and guidance counseling.
APPLICATION PROCESS
To apply for The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, interested individuals must first apply for academic study and placement at the University of Cape Town. Only applicants who have applied for academic study and placement to UCT are eligible to submit an application for the Mastercard Foundation scholarship.
