Charles was the first heir to obtain a public education as opposed to one from private tutors because his parents decided to send him to school.

Charles served in the Royal Navy from 1971 to 1976, flying helicopters and following in the footsteps of his father, grandfather, and great-grandfathers. He first trained as a pilot for the Royal Air Force and later held the position of commander of the minesweeper HMS Bronington.

He enrolled in a variety of institutions, notably two semesters in Melbourne as an exchange student and a private boarding school in Scotland.

Charles went to Trinity College at Cambridge University from 1967 to 1970 and became the first member of the British royal family to receive a bachelor’s degree.

He pursued studies in anthropology, history, and archaeology. In 1969, at the age of 20, he received the title of Prince of Wales.
