SCOPE 

The Czech Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport provides scholarship opportunities for students from developing countries. These scholarships are open to applicants hailing from nations that are currently undergoing political and economic transitions. Thanks to the generous support from the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport, the Faculty of Social Sciences has the privilege to offer a restricted number of partial scholarships for students enrolled in fee-based programs. A specified number of scholarships, __ in total, are designated for students from developing countries and those experiencing political and economic transformations.

SCHOLARSHIPS DETAILS 

Following a resolution by the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports, the Czech Republic’s Government Scholarships aim to support and encourage enrollment in particular Bachelor’s, Master’s, follow-up Master’s, and/or Doctoral study programs conducted in full-time mode by a university (or its Faculty). These scholarships cover the regular duration of the chosen study program. It’s important to note that scholarships are non-transferable to different individuals or academic years. Once awarded a scholarship, it is not permissible to switch to another university, study program, or field of study.

ELIGIBLE FIELDS OF STUDY:

Prospective students seeking admission to public universities in the Czech Republic can apply for programs in the following disciplines: Economics, Agriculture, Informatics, Environment, and Energetics.

ELIGIBLE COUNTRIES:

  • Bosnia and Herzegovina,
  • Cambodia,
  • Ethiopia,
  • Georgia,
  • Moldova,
  • Ukraine,
  • and Zambia.

SELECTION CRITERIA AND ELIGIBILITY

The scholarships aim to support the education of adult learners who are citizens of developing third countries in need. Individuals who hold citizenship of the Czech Republic, or any European Union member state, or have a permit for permanent residence in the Czech Republic are not eligible for this scholarship.

Moreover, individuals under the age of 18 are not eligible to apply. Applicants must reach the age of 18 by the 1st of September of the year they plan to start their studies in the Czech Republic.

For Bachelor/Master/Doctoral Study Programmes and a one-year Preparatory Course in the English language (combined with other field-specific training):

Government scholarships in this category are awarded to graduates of upper secondary schools or Bachelor’s/Master’s degree courses, who can only enroll in study programs conducted in English. Depending on the subject area, applicants are usually required to take entrance examinations at the respective higher education institution. Passing the entrance examination is a prerequisite for receiving the scholarship.

Alternatively, for follow-up Master or Doctoral Study Programmes:

Government scholarships in this category are given to graduates of Bachelor’s or Master’s Study Programmes, respectively, who enroll in study programs that are conducted in English.

Additionally, the Scholarship Review Board will consider the applicant’s academic performance in their previous studies. Priority will be given to students who have not had the opportunity to study abroad before.

DURATION AND TIMELINE :

The Government Scholarships provided by the Czech Republic are intended to fund the regular study duration along with an additional preparatory one-year course for learning the Czech language, which is offered alongside other specialized training in various fields.

SCHOLARSHIPS BENEFITS 

  • The scholarship encompasses all essential expenses associated with living and studying in the Czech Republic.
  • The scholarship amount undergoes regular revisions.
  • At present, students enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or follow-up Master’s study program receive CZK 14,000 per month.
  • Doctoral students, on the other hand, are granted CZK 15,000 per month.
  • The aforementioned scholarship amounts include a specific allocation for accommodation costs. Scholarship recipients cover their accommodation, food, and public transport expenses under the same conditions as Czech Republic citizen students. If a student requires health services beyond standard care, they will be responsible for covering the additional costs.

  • To apply, every candidate must complete an online application form before the deadline of 30th September 2023. The selected candidate will commence their studies in the academic year 2024/2025.
