ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Each Bright Futures program sets specific criteria, though they do share certain common elements. Below are the prerequisites you need to fulfill to qualify for any Bright Futures program:

APPLICATION DURING YOUR FINAL YEAR IN HIGH SCHOOL: It is essential to apply for the Bright Future Scholarship before your graduation, or else you will lose eligibility for future awards.

FLORIDA RESIDENCY AND CITIZENSHIP: To be eligible, you must be a Florida resident and either a US Citizen or an eligible noncitizen. It doesn’t matter where your parents reside, as long as you are a Florida resident.

DIPLOMA FROM A FLORIDA HIGH SCHOOL: You must earn a diploma from a Florida public high school or a certified private high school.

MINIMUM TEST SCORES: To qualify for a Bright Futures Scholarship, you must achieve the minimum required test score for the specific award you seek. It might be worth considering retaking your SAT or ACT to meet the minimum criteria.

ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS: You should be enrolled, or enrolling, in at least six credit hours per semester.

FLORIDA FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION: Complete the Florida Financial Aid Application before August 31 of your graduation year.

POSTSECONDARY PROGRAM IN FLORIDA: Enroll in a postsecondary program within the state of Florida.

APPLY REGARDLESS OF YOUR PLANS: Even if you are uncertain about attending college, planning to study out of state, taking a gap year, or joining the military, you are encouraged to apply for a Bright Futures Scholarship.

TIME LIMIT: Eligible students have a window of up to three years from their high school graduation to utilize the scholarship.

NO FELONY CONVICTIONS: Applicants must not have been convicted of a felony.

HOW TO APPLY FOR FLORIDA BRIGHT FUTURES SCHOLARSHIP.
