SCOPE
The scholarship program offers educational grants to family members of military personnel who lost their lives or became disabled while bravely protecting our country. The Folds of Honor Foundation grants scholarships up to $5,000 for a primary bachelor’s degree or students attending private school from kindergarten through grade 12. Additionally, the foundation extends its support to the spouses and children of fallen and disabled service members across all branches of the American military. Students aiming to pursue a certificate, associate, bachelor’s, or graduate degree are eligible and encouraged to apply for these scholarships.

Both categories of Folds of Honor scholarships are granted based on the “unmet need” indicated in the provided documentation by the recipient and can be worth up to $5000. Since its establishment in 2007, Folds of Honor has given out around 20,000 scholarships. During the 2018-2019 academic year, they awarded nearly 4000 scholarships to military families, providing a total of almost $20 million in educational support.

FOLDS OF HONOR SCHOLARSHIP GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Scholarship Eligibility Criteria: For children or spouses of service members: Eligible if the service member is deceased due to being killed in action, killed in the line of duty, or died with a VA disability rating. Additionally, eligibility applies if the VA disability rating of the deceased service member is 10% or higher. Those who have received a Purple Heart during active duty are also eligible.
Minimum GPA requirement: A minimum GPA of 2.0 is necessary for the two most recent academic terms.
Educational Pursuits: The scholarship is available for individuals seeking a professional certification, associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or graduate degree.

HOW TO APPLY FOLDS OF HONOR SCHOLARSHIP
Each year, from February 1 to March 31, Folds of Honor accepts applications. If March 31 falls on a weekend, the deadline will be extended to the following business day’s close.
Scholarship awards range from $100 to $5,000, but will not exceed $2,500 per term. If the awardees unmet need is less than $2,500 after submitting a check, Folds of Honor will disburse only the actual unmet need based on the school account balance.
Any remaining funds will be kept by Folds of Honor and can be used by the student in another payment term within the same academic year.
To receive funds from Folds of Honor, applicants must reapply each year.
All application information must be submitted through the Folds of Honor online portal. No documentation will be accepted via US mail, fax, email, or over the phone.
Please be aware that notifications of acceptance or denial will be sent in mid-July. All funds will be mailed directly to the educational institution; no funds will be sent directly to an awardee.
