SCOPE

The Illinois Golden Apple SCHOLARSHIP program is a special initiative to prepare teachers. It offers support for four years of college tuition, guidance, and skill development to individuals who promise to teach in Illinois schools for five years. The program also holds four summer learning events at various universities in the state.

These special learning events, known as the Golden Apple Scholar Institutes, happen at different universities. These schools collaborate with the Golden Apple Foundation to give aspiring teachers a thorough and hands-on training. The host university takes care of accommodation, meals, transport, coursework, and practical training for the students..

The Golden Apple Scholarship of Illinois is a scholarship given based on merit. It offers financial help to students who are dedicated to teaching in schools that need more teachers in Illinois. To qualify for this scholarship, you need to fulfill these criteria:

Being a Golden Apple Scholar means you’re committed to teaching in a school that needs help in Illinois for five years. This commitment starts two years after you finish your college degree. For students who deeply care about teaching and changing children’s lives, the Golden Apple Scholarship of Illinois is a valuable chance. It gives you the means to make a positive impact

If you’re chosen for the Golden Apple Scholarship, you’ll get a special award that can be used to cover things like tuition, fees, and other costs for your education. The amount you get depends on how much money you need and what year of college you’re in.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • Complete online application including references and personal statements.
  • Upload Unofficial Transcripts
  • Standardized Test Scores (ACT or SAT)
  • Standardized test scores are optional and not required for acceptance to the Golden Apple Scholars Program. The review committee will closely review the strength of course selection, G.P.A., grade trending, personal statements and overall involvement for students wishing not to submit test scores.
  • Students accepted into the Scholars program must submit test scores after induction to assist in research purposes.
  • Home school students are required to submit test scores for application review.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Qualify as a United States citizen or meet the criteria for an eligible non-citizen.
  • Reside in Illinois (if you are reliant on someone, both you and your parent/guardian must be residents of Illinois).
  • Have completed high school or obtained a General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
  • Not have defaulted on any student loan or have any pending refund or repayment for a state or federal grant.
  • Commit to teaching full-time for five years at a nonprofit Illinois public, private, or parochial preschool, or an Illinois public elementary or secondary school categorized as a school of need.
  • Commence teaching within two years after completing your postsecondary education degree or certificate program, for which you received financial assistance from Golden Apple.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
  • Participate in all mandatory Golden Apple activities, which include the summer institute and mentoring program.
