SCHOLAR BENEFITS AND AWARD

The University of Melbourne Graduate Research Scholarships is offering free study opportunities in Australia for both Domestic and International students. A total of 600 scholarships will be awarded.

Students pursuing a Masters by Research degree can receive a complete waiver of their tuition fees for a period of up to two years. Doctoral degree students, on the other hand, can avail themselves of this waiver for up to four years.

For a maximum duration of two years, Masters by Research students can receive a prorated annual living allowance of $34,400 (calculated based on the 2023 full-time study rate).

Similarly, students pursuing a doctoral degree can receive this allowance for up to 3.5 years. The living allowance is subject to potential yearly adjustments and covers a range of benefits, including a limited provision for paid sick leave, maternity leave, and parenting leave.

Students who are relocating from States or Territories other than Victoria within Australia are eligible for a relocation grant of $2000. Meanwhile, students moving from outside of Australia can receive a relocation grant of $3000.

International students who require a student visa to study in Australia will also be provided with a Single Membership for Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). This health coverage is essential for ensuring the well-being of international students during their studies in Australia.

Eligibility Requirements for Scholarships In Australia:

To be considered eligible for the 600 Graduate Research Scholarships, individuals must satisfy the following conditions:

Submission of an application and fulfillment of the prerequisites for admission into a graduate research program offered by the University of Melbourne.

Alternatively, candidates can be in the process of pursuing a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne.

Both international and domestic students meet the criteria for eligibility.

If you’re a recent enrollee and have successfully registered for a postgraduate research program by the specified application deadline, you will automatically be taken into account for the 600 Graduate Research Scholarships. You’ll get a notice indicating that a scholarship request has been appended to your file within a week of submitting your program application.

In case you’ve accepted an offer for a postgraduate research program but have postponed the start date to be reconsidered for a scholarship, you need to complete an internet-based application form by October 31st to be eligible for a scholarship in the subsequent year. You’ll be notified that a scholarship application has been attached to your records within a week of sending the online form.

If you’re presently registered in a postgraduate research program and are aiming for a scholarship related to it, you have to submit an online application form by October 31st to be in the running for a scholarship in the coming year.
