APPLY NOW: 2023-2024 Government Of Slovak Republic National Scholarship Program For International Students

The National Scholarship Program of Slovakia offers fully funded scholarships to foreign students. These grants are applicable for both master’s and doctoral programs, covering a monthly stipend of up to 734 €. The initiative encompasses scholarships for international scholars pursuing PhD studies, university educators, researchers, and artists. In 2005, the Slovak Republic’s government authorized the creation of the National Scholarship Programme to facilitate the movement of students, doctoral candidates, professors, researchers, and artistic individuals.

The Slovak Republic’s Ministry of Education, Science, Research, and Sport provides funding for the National Scholarship Programme (NSP) of the country.

The NSP of the Slovak Republic assists in the movement of foreign pupils, doctoral candidates, educators at universities, scientists, and creative individuals, enabling them to engage in periods of scholarship at universities and research institutions within Slovakia.

  • HOST: Slovak Republic
  • SCHOLARSHIP TYPE: Fully Funded
  • APPLICATION DEADLINE: October 31, 2023

The grant aims to provide financial support for international scholars awarded with scholarships. This funding encompasses the expenses associated with their time spent in Slovakia, including food and lodging, while they pursue studies, research, artistic endeavors, or teaching commitments at Slovakian universities and research institutions.

Recipients of the scholarship are eligible to seek aid for matters like housing and administrative procedures for entering and residing in the Slovak Republic. This assistance can be sought through the host institution or managed independently by the scholarship holder.

  • Monthly scholarship amounts are as follows:
  • For university students pursuing advanced studies (second level of higher education): 400 €.
  • For PhD students: 734 €

Scholarship requests are made online through the website www.scholarships.sk. The online application system becomes accessible at least six weeks before the application deadline. It’s essential to note that applications can only be completed if the online system is already operational.

Initial Phase: Candidates need to complete their digital applications and upload all necessary attachments in the specified format to their online submissions.

Applicants are permitted to present their applications and required attachments exclusively in Slovak or English. Any documents in other languages must undergo official translation into either Slovak or English, a translation that can be certified by the same institution responsible for the original document.

When dealing with documents that are linked to the application but issued by someone other than the applicant (for instance, recommendation letters, study confirmations, diplomas, diploma supplements, state examination certificates, admission or invitation letters), it is vital to scan and upload these papers onto the online application platform.

Furthermore, the applicant is responsible for retaining and archiving all original documents electronically that have been attached to the online application. Upon request, the applicant may need to submit these original documents (or certified duplicates) to the program administrator.

Second Phase: Upon the completion of the application form and the attachment of all necessary documents, the applicant should finalize the submission by selecting the “SEND” option. Additionally, the original copy of the admission or invitation letter must be physically delivered to SAIA, n. o., located in Bratislava (SAIA, n. o., Sasinkova 10, 812 20 Bratislava 1).

The delivery of this document must be completed no later than the third working day following the application deadline, and it should be received before 12 p.m. (The calculation of working days takes into account the legal status in Slovakia.)
